GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 649368
Integrate navigation history buttons with the Back and Forward buttons
Last modified: 2012-03-31 17:14:11 UTC
The Epiphany toolbar uses separate buttons for Back/Forward and the navigation history. I'd like to suggest integrating navigation history in the Back/Forward buttons, with history being accessible by holding a mouse click on them. This behaviour would be consistent with Nautilus 3.0, use less space and look nicer overall.
It seems to me that the Nautilus back/forward button behavior is borrowed from Firefox but is not necessarily more discoverable than what we have currently. It certainly merits discussion, though.
We have lost the history dropdowns now, so I think this is a good idea. It's certainly less discoverable (I had no idea firefox did this!) though, so I guess it will remain a power user feature for those that know it exists. Or for those that read the manual...
Note that Nautilus displays the history menu either when you press and hold the back button or (more quickly) when you right click on the button. I think it would be useful and consistent to have both of these behaviors in Epiphany as well.
Diego opened a new bug for his patch and we have been discussing it there, so closing this as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 671609 ***
