In order to shut down (= power off) a device, you need do press the ALT key and then "Suspend" turns into power off. This is not possible on a tablet device because once I'm in the menu with the "Suspend" option, I cannot access the virtual keyboard. This is a major design flaw and a real pity as most part of gnome-shell are very tablet-friendly.

Suggestion: Right mouse click or remaining on the "Suspend" menu entry for 2 seconds should automatically change the entry to "Power off".

Another suggestion would be to determine if a physical keyboard is present, and if not display both "Suspend" AND "Power Off" menu items.

Remember the recommended way to shut down GNOME 3 is to log out, and then shut down from the login screen; the Alt key is more of a hidden easter egg.  That still works, correct?  Retitling under that assumption.

Hm...so the docs people were supposed to document this, but instead documented the Alt key.  Making a clone for that.

I wouldn't call this 'recommended' but 'very 1995ish'.

I don't think either of the suggestions found designer approval.

It is possible to make the Alt-menuitem thing work with an osk, and the people working on the shell osk are considering it (also needed for making automatic mnemonics work with the osk).

3.6 reverted the design, so you can shutdown without alt from the menu. The expectation is that suspending is available with lid switch or physical buttons.
