If I open a window and pull it onto the second monitor, the window is not "attached" to a worspace. So stays on that monitor, even if I change the workspace.

I am using the nvidia driver and am running Fedora 15 Alpha (with updates-testing).

That is actually the intended behavior, see bug 609258. There is a request in bug 645581 to support other multi-monitor configurations as well.
