Description Gabriel Burt 2011-04-04 23:04:05 UTC
When you trigger Activities, the search entry is focused. If you type, it will immediately begin searching - but it doesn't visually appear focused, which is the normal way of indicating that keyboard input will go to a particular entry.

Instead it has a label "Type to search..." telling to user to type, but that's confusing since it's not how entries work anywhere else in GNOME.

Agree with this, the current look is in fact counter-intuitive.

The plan is to use this kind of behaviour elsewhere, almost like typeahead find.

Also, focusing the search entry would make it look like search is the primary thing in the overview, and would distract from the window thumbnails et al.
