In Unity (or classic gnome with the appmenu bar) on Ubuntu there is a default "File" menu stub for applications that don't provide a menu.  It only contains a "Close" entry.  It would be cleaner to hide that.

If you would rather not apply the distro specific patch, you can also just add it to the ppa package for now.
