Description Allison Karlitskaya (desrt) 2011-02-18 04:28:08 UTC
I just jhbuilt the shell and was playing around a bit with the new workspace thumbnail stuff on the right side of the overview. While playing around, I had 3 workspaces open, in this order

1) firefox
2) terminal
3) the always-empty workspace at the end

Just playing around, I tried to drag the terminal window into the empty workspace at the end. It looks like nothing happened. It felt buggy.

Of course, after playing some more and thinking about it I realise that the effect is that the window was properly moved but it caused the 2nd workspace to close for lack of any active windows in it (thus causing the 3rd workspace to become the 2nd workspace and another empty workspace to be added).

The feedback in this situation could be vastly improved through the use of an animation showing the 2nd workspace disappearing, the 3rd one sliding up into its place and a new empty workspace appearing below.

Maybe something like this could be done as part of the fix for bug 642188.

Yeah, that's what it's gonna be ...
