Description Andrew Zabolotny 2011-01-25 10:47:23 UTC
In compiz-gnome, if virtual desktops are simulated by using the "Horizontal/Vertical desktop size" scrollbars in CompizConfig -> General compiz options, virtual desktops are displayed correctly in the applet, but scrolling desktops with mouse wheel does not work.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enable compiz-gnome
2. Launch ccsm and set "Number of Desktops" to 1, "Horizontal Virtual Size" to >1 (say, 10) in "General compiz options".
3. Position the mouse over the applet and roll the wheel. The applet won't switch desktops, although this works in other modes (e.g. in metacity and if "Number of Desktops" is larger than 1).

Why is this a gnome-panel bug and not a compiz bug?
Comment 2 Fabio Durán Verdugo 2011-01-25 16:44:02 UTC
Yes I think the same is a compiz bug.
Comment 3 Andrew Zabolotny 2011-01-25 19:05:22 UTC
I'm not sure, do you mean that compiz is expected to handle mouse wheel events in the desktop-switcher applet? Mouse wheel works fine in any other application, btw (and even in desktop-switcher under compiz if I use a different setup).

It's really an issue because of how compiz works. See bug 602135.
