Description Jean-François Fortin Tam 2011-01-24 00:04:11 UTC
Pidgin has a very nifty feature that allows you to set strings which get automatically replaced in conversations. Initially created to prevent common typos, I find this feature to be really useful.

For example, I set it to replace "gnome" with "GNOME", "pitivi" with "PiTiVi", and "SCR" (when it is a "complete" word and not a substring) to "http://example.com/screenshot.png";
this particular one allows me to simply take a screenshot (my local web server has a symlink pointing to ~/Screenshot.png) and then to type "SCR" to send the URL to a friend. Perfect for quick temporary screenshots.

I'm sure many other users would appreciate this feature.
