GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 639233
[i18n] Unclear use of the word Remote
Last modified: 2018-05-24 15:45:40 UTC
The following messages need context for translators. Why is 'Remote' written with a capital C? Is a remote control meant or something different? Could not pair with this Remote. _Look for touch Remotes Add Remote
This probably refers to http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/remote/id284417350?mt=8 but I haven't checked in the source for the exact source for these strings.
Can you please give more information on the word 'Remote'? What is meant by 'Forget known Remotes'?
I don't really know what to do here. I don't particularly want to say "devices running the Apple(r) iTunes(tm) Remote application", but that's more or less what we need to get across there.

Please use message context cf. http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/MsgctxtMigration Thanks!
To get the picture, on which side does one find this "device", the user's? Does the user have to install this app on his PC to make contact with a remote computer? And what does 'Forget known Remotes' mean? How can one forget a device? And '_Look for touch Remotes'? Does this mean the user gets a list with names of Remote devices and some of them are touch devices? I do not expect a lengthy technical explanation, but maybe, with a little help, I will be able to translate these messages. Otherwise I will have to pass this on to someone with experience with Remotes.
I'm not even talking about translation yet. I don't think those strings are meaningful to end users in any language, so we need to fix that first.
