GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 639015
totem-video-thumbnailer unable to generate a thumbnail on DVD file
Last modified: 2012-02-14 00:45:29 UTC
The file "test.vob" is the beginning of a much larger file originating from a DVD. It is played properly by all major linux players (VLC, totem, mplayer and ffplay) but totem-video-thumbnailer is not capable to generate a thumbnail from it. /usr/bin/totem-video-thumbnailer test.vob test.png ** (totem-video-thumbnailer:4047): WARNING **: Could not take screenshot: no last video frame ** (totem-video-thumbnailer:4047): WARNING **: Could not take screenshot: no last video frame ** (totem-video-thumbnailer:4047): WARNING **: Could not take screenshot: no last video frame ** (totem-video-thumbnailer:4047): WARNING **: Could not take screenshot: no last video frame ** (totem-video-thumbnailer:4047): WARNING **: Could not take screenshot: no last video frame totem-video-thumbnailer couldn't get a picture from 'test.vob' The problem can be reproduced with Ubuntu 10.10 using gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse version 0.10.25-4ubuntu2.
Created attachment 177840 [details] A test video that plays properly in totem but from which a thumbnail cannot be created
Note that the same video in a matroska container produces a thumbnail. Remuxing was done with mkvtoolnix.
Seems to work fine for me with totem 3.2.1 and current pre-relases (core/base 0.10.35.3, = the upcoming 0.10.36 release). Closing as obsolete. Please re-open if you can still reproduce this with current versions of GStreamer, thanks!
