GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 633704
Sending link by email should be (more) discoverable
Last modified: 2018-03-28 17:58:24 UTC
If Evolution (haven't tried other mail clients) is already running, using Epiphany's "File>Send link by email" menu item doesn't do anything. It only works if Evolution is not already running.
the bug exists in 2.30.6
Still present in master. Sending a link by mail crashed eds. I'll look into that.
We no longer have this item.
We do, it's in the context menu.
You'd be surprised how useful this feature is for non-computer litterate users. I heartily suggest you keep it, and perhaps that you even add it to the new "app menu".
Works for me. You can still access it by right-click at any blank spot in the page. No crashes in evolution, both sending and clicking a mailto: work. Although the startup notification seems to be a bit silly and keep the cursor as busy (we start this things with gtk_show_uri) Should we add it to the gear menu? I can agree with Jean's reason of making it easy to discover link sharing.
Seems that it works and it's about discovery, so re-titling.
This is a mass NEEDINFO of all Epiphany bugs with no activity in the past three years. I'm going to be automatically closing old bugs to help us focus on current problems. If you feel this bug is still relevant with Epiphany 3.26 or newer, then please leave any comment here so that I know not to close this one.
The menu item still doesn't do anything in 3.26, with Evolution already running.
(In reply to Bastien Nocera from comment #9) > The menu item still doesn't do anything in 3.26, with Evolution already > running. Works perfectly in Geary, both with Epiphany installed as a flatpak (in which case it goes through the OpenURI portal) and as an RPM. I don't think this needs to be more discoverable, because it's a niche feature.
