Description Alexander Hunziker 2010-09-09 09:11:04 UTC
It would be nice to have a function (perhaps in a popup menu in the clips view), where one can choose to match the output settings (dimension, aspect, frame rate, ...) to the ones of the chosen clip. that avoids unnecessary rescaling of the video material.

Makes sense. There could be a menu item in the Project menu that says "Set project settings from selected clip" or something like that.

Just a few further comments...

If we have a mono video, 600x400, it should set both audio and video settings to the clip settings, that's easy.

If we have a still image, what should it do to the audio?

If we have a silent video, what should it do to the audio?

if we have an audio file, what should it do to the video?
Comment 3 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2010-09-19 13:53:44 UTC
1- yep
2- still image: should set only the resolution? or... hmm nothing at all in fact. Because still images don't even have framerates. Maybe the menu item could be made insensitive in that case.
3- set the video settings only
4- set the audio settings only

So 3 and 4 can be successively used to achieve 1. It would be weird but I guess it would work.
Comment 4 Karl Palsson 2010-09-19 14:59:33 UTC
Or, for still images, it should be able to set the resolution, but not the framerate? (probably easier to just grey out the option :))
