Description Steven Rosenberg 2010-08-17 18:56:22 UTC
Previous versions of Gthumb have been my go-to application for photo editing because they enable me to edit and add IPTC caption information to JPEGs.

This worked great in 2.10, but in 2.11 gthumb reads pre-existing IPTC material fine but doesn't put new text entered into the Description field into the proper place for other applications such as IrfanView and Photoshop to access this data via IPTC.

This bug may be somehow related to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=610633 - I am having this same problem with 2.10-created captions not visible in 2.11.

This is serious enough for me that I'm trying to figure out how to revert to 2.10 in Fedora 13. I can't use gthumb without working IPTC.

probably a duplicate of bug #626893, you should test version 2.11.90 and see if the issue is fixed.
Comment 2 Steven Rosenberg 2010-08-31 18:35:10 UTC
I just tested 2.11.90 with a package built for Fedora 13:

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=191447

I can confirm that the bug has been fixed and IPTC is working again.

Thank you very, very much! Gthumb is my No. 1 image editor due to its handling of IPTC.
