GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 626370
Preview images does not load until clicked
Last modified: 2010-11-25 15:56:06 UTC
Created attachment 167371 [details] Automatic "Loading preview..." at the top, & the preview after clicking on it at the bottom In the File > Open Image window, when hovering over an image file, sometimes the image preview is not generated despite the text beneath the blank preview image saying "Loading preview..." My "Max filesize for thumbnailing" is set to 70MB, but I get even images as small as 50kB that don't get a preview. If I click on the blank preview image, the preview gets generated almost instantly. If I click on a file and the preview is blank (perpetually "Loading preview...") and I open that image in Gimp without clicking on the blank preview, and then close the image and open the Open Image window again on click on the same file again, the preview shows automatically. I experienced this problem on another computer since a few older Gimp versions as well.
The bug here is that the GtkFileChooser sometimes doesn't emit the right signal GIMP needs to update the preview. There is a bug filed against GTK+ about this, but I don't fint it right now.
Good to know, this is old and irritating. I did a search but I didn't see any bug report that matches this situation 100%, so if you find it please post a link to it here.
Bug #563002 perhaps ?
Indeed, resolving as duplicate. Reporter, if the bug still happens with a fixed GTK+ version, please reopen this bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 563002 ***
