Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an image with GIMP
2. Select Filters → Edge Detection → Difference of Gaussians...
3. Check/Enable the Invert checkbutton in the "DoG Edge Detect" dialog

Result:
The preview becomes black with the actual result (if you press OK) being completely different
