Description mkoby 2010-07-21 15:48:57 UTC
Current Banshee Version: 1.6.1 (from Ubuntu 10.04 repositories)
Current Device: HTC Aria (Android device)

I would like to see Banshee integrate a better solution for syncing media to devices.

Something like iTunes's "Sync Selected Playlists" would be nice. Right now I can only choose one playlist and then it after it syncs the songs from that playlist, it then copies ALL the playlists to my device, even one's I don't really want on my device.

I would like to be able to select the playlists to sync to my device and have only the media in those playlists sync as well as only those playlists be added to the device, rather than having it create ALL the playlists I have in Banshee onto my device.

More specific example, lets say I have 5 playlists:

1: Phone Playlist (smart playlist, includes criteria to include playlists 2 and 5)
2: Artist 1 Playlist (regular)
3: Artist 2 Playlist (regular)
4: Not Music (smart playlist)
5: Random Songs (smart playlist)

right now if I want to ensure that all the songs I want on my device get synced, I select the "Phone Playlist" and it syncs the music and then creates all 5 playlists on my device, even though I don't care about the "Not Music" playlist.

I would like to have a list of playlists with checkboxes that lets me choose playlists 1, 3, and 5, and have it sync all the media for those playlists and then only create those playlists on my device.

As it works now isn't overly horrible as the music and playlists do sync. But having more control would allow for a better overall user experience (at least in my opinion).

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
