Description Bayo 2010-07-04 17:47:15 UTC
Empathy use IRC authentication feature (with NickServ?). Sometime somebody already use our nickname, or a ghost of ourself is online (waiting for timeout).

NickServ allow to kick ghost/user, then empathy should:

*join IRC with a random available nickname
*use NickServ to kick the ghost with our user/password
*move to the final nickname
*and use NickServ authication

ATM Empathy only return an error message like "nickname already used". And we must wait the ghost timeout. It is a big problem especially when we are using bad connexion like wifi...

Thanks.

I think that's something that should be done in telepathy-idle.
