Description brooknet 2010-06-25 00:02:28 UTC
In the manual/help text for Vinagre 2.30.x, no mention is made of the facility to tunnel a remote desktop connection over SSH. It would be very helpful if this could be added, as the only way I have been able to tunnel a connection over SSH is to do this externally, by setting up the tunnel prior to connecting.

Example, where 'vnc_host' is the host running the VNC server that we wish to use:

ssh -N -L localhost:5901:localhost:5901 vnc_host

.. then connect to localhost:5901 in Vinagre.

My attempts at setting up tunnelling in Vinagre have met with a variety of password prompts and error messages.

Vinagre is now able to do SSH tunneling out of the box, without needing to do any external setup.

Great! Many thanks.
