Description slicer69 2010-06-18 13:58:23 UTC
When downloading large e-mails (or e-mails with attachments) from imap servers, the Evolution interface hangs until the message (and attachments) has been completely downloaded. No progress is indication is shown. Once the message has downloaded, Evolution continues to function normally.

This is generally only a problem if the connection is slow or the message is very large. However, the interface being unresponsive also prevents users from accessing other e-mail accounts, blocks the calendar from showing upcoming events, etc.

Expected behaviour:
It would be nice if the interface had some sort of responsiveness to let the user continue working. Or at least show a progress bar so it's apparent that Evolution is still functioning and has not locked up completely.

Steps to duplicate:
1. Send a giant e-mail to yourself on an imap server.
2. Wait for e-mail to arrive in inbox.
3. Try to open the message.
4. Display locks up until message is downloaded.

Can reproduce:
100% of the time with any large message over imap. Other accounts, such as pop do not seem to be affected.

Pretty sure this is working better already in 2.30. Please try it.
