Description Angel Abad 2010-06-09 12:06:57 UTC
In Ubuntu Lucid X I reported:

The 'Wired network connection' icon shows the ethernet cable as being unplugged. This is again a poor design principle. When the ethernet is plugged in, then the icon should show the cable as being plugged in... obvious surely!?

Thanks!

This is an issue with the icon theme the distribution has chosen. The icons it includes are likely not the stock NetworkManager icons. Thus, it's up to your distribution to restyle the icons in their icon theme to correctly represent the metaphor required.

The stock NetworkManager 'wired network connection' icon is two computers, or when disconnected, two computers with a red X. There is no ethernet cable in the stock NetworkManager icons.
