GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 620139
Filters with multiple steps not working as expected if "move to folder" is first step
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:56:52 UTC
I have some filters that move certain emails to a folder, and then deletes them. This I did because I want to temporarily disable the income of such mails, but Evolution only executes one of them actions: move the mails. I think that maybe the bug is related to deleting the mails as soon as they land, but it may also be related to executing more than one action.
First you copy (= move and mark as deleted) a message A. Now the copy B exists. Second you mark A as deleted again. B remains undeleted. Not really a bug - that's how it works I'd say.
Well, but why should it work that way? I mean, with the move command A message is supposed to be deleted, and Delete command should not attempt to delete that message which is already deleted. There is no logic in that, because the sequence of events is exactly the same as though the Delete command wasn't issued at all.
This problem is now covered in the user help at http://library.gnome.org/users/evolution/3.2/mail-filters-not-working.html

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
