This is not a bug but a feature request:

Empathy does not allow to block contacts in the contacts list: Empathy 2.28.x (Ubuntu Karmic) up to Empathy 2.30.x (Ubuntu Lucid RC)

Let's say I have X (account msn), Y (account yahoo), Z (account jabber) contacts in my contacts list. I want to chat with X & Y, X excluded: this can not be done.

Needless to say, being unable to be selectively available is a serious privacy concern.

Bug 551911 requests blocking contacts NOT in the contact list (title: Make possible to block messages from people not in buddy list) to prevent spam

This current bug is about blocking contacts IN the contact list to maintain privacy.

These are separate issues. Could you specify why it has been marked as bug duplicate?
