Created attachment 159322 [details] [review] Workaround for Mai Kong My bad on missing the case of Mai Kong (U+0EBB) when mapping Lao characters into 8-bit table for analyzing. A quick workaround could be mapping it to the same position as Thai MAITAIKHU (U+0E47). Then, the Thai logic just works well for Lao.
For testing purpose, I've built some debs for you to test here: http://linux.thai.net/~thep/debs/pango-lao/ (It's for Debian sid, but it should apply to Ubuntu Lucid as well.)
Thanks sir it's many files there what should i have to install in 32bit computer and 64bit computer ? Please regards OS
I've built additional i386 debs for you to test now. Minimal sets of packages to install: i386: - libpango1.0-common_1.28.0-1lao1_all.deb - libpango1.0-0_1.28.0-1lao1_i386.deb amd64: - libpango1.0-common_1.28.0-1lao1_all.deb - libpango1.0-0_1.28.0-1lao1_amd64.deb
Thanks Sir let's test again
As discussed in personal chats, the debs can't be installed in Ubuntu, due to different dependency. So, I've also prepared Ubuntu source in the same place, but can't build it myself. Could someone with Ubuntu Lucid box do this for Outhai to test?
Here are packages for lucid built from Theppitak's. http://gear.kku.ac.th/~kitt/pub/pango/ Please test.
Thanks sir now working from this builds http://gear.kku.ac.th/~kitt/pub/pango/ i download following files gir1.0-pango-1.0_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_i386.deb libpango1.0-0_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_i386.deb libpango1.0-0-dbg_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_i386.deb libpango1.0-common_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_all.deb libpango1.0-dev_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_i386.deb libpango1.0-doc_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_all.deb and installed by sudo dpkg -i followed by file name ex sudo dpkg -i libpango1.0-doc_1.28.0-0ubuntu2+lao1_all.deb restart and test with Firefox , Writer, Gedit it's working fine now See SS http://img.laoupload.com/images/08269525305760402487.png Thanks For P Theppitak Karoonboonyanan for solving this bug and Kitt Tientanopajai for ubuntu build ps test on clean installed ubuntu 10.04 lucid
The bug is not considered fixed yet, until the patch is committed. Please reopen the bug.
oh.. I'm sorry status was changed to UNCONFIRMED
on more thing we need to fix is display between ໜ and ໝ when we type shift + o(oh) = O < = > shift + ນ = ໜ (ຫນ) (U+0EDC) 'LAO HO NO' but when display is ຫມ = U+0EDD LAO HO MO shift + , = < < = > shift + ມ = ໝ (ຫມ) U+0EDD LAO HO MO but when display is ຫນ = (U+0EDC) 'LAO HO NO' In the keyboard layout and character encoding is correct just only display is wrong so please fix the display of shift + o change to ນ = ໜ (ຫນ) (U+0EDC) 'LAO HO NO' and shift + , change to ມ = ໝ (ຫມ) U+0EDD LAO HO MO thanks
(In reply to comment #11) > on more thing we need to fix is > display between ໜ and ໝ I'm afraid this is not Pango problem. When entering the characters from gucharmap, they are correctly rendered. Please check your input method instead.
Created attachment 165323 [details] [review] Mai Kong patch, git-formatted Patch formatted for commit. Pango maintainers, assuming that the problem in comment #11 is on input method, not pango, is it OK to commit and close this bug?

This xkb keybmap works fine. Regards, Anousak
