Description Maciej (Matthew) Piechotka 2010-03-06 23:00:47 UTC
Sometimes you have severl addresses for whatever reason. For example you have nick under which you're known to web and official 'buissiness' email.

In such case you would not like to send an email from funnynick19542@popularfreemail.com

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This bug report isn't very useful because it doesn't describe the bug well. If you have time and can still reproduce the bug, please read http://bugzilla.gnome.org/bug-HOWTO.html and add a more useful description to this bug.
Comment 2 Maciej (Matthew) Piechotka 2010-03-07 22:16:55 UTC
Consider a case when you have 2 or more emails. For example
 - An official mail for university/company/etc.
 - An email you use for everyday use/mailing lists etc.

Usually you don't want to mix them. I.e.

1. Send the personal mail using company e-mail. It is not big problem except that you will get bouncies from ML etc.
2. Send the proffesional mail using personal e-mal. While it is not a problem per se but:
  - It may affect the reciver. I mean the proffesional e-mail address usually is a more impressive (containing name of institution at the end rather then gmail.com or hotmail.com).
  - For whatever reasons it might be prefered by reciver to have the 'local' e-mail.
Additionally in both causes mixing of conversations (one may want to keep them sorted).

When I have 5 e-mail addresses I have to check the mistakes are more then likely (not mentioning NNTP). I know it is extream case but still.
