GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 611924
5 seconds lag before opening the first chat window
Last modified: 2012-08-26 11:13:32 UTC
I'm using an adium theme, and I noticed that when I open the first chat window, it takes 5 seconds to (I think) initialize the theme. The strange thing is that the other windows (even after restarting empathy) will open immediately.
Talking with developer on IRC showed that this is a known behavior. They confirmed that the problem is caused by adium initialization, which can be moved to empathy startup.
I have channels set as my favorites. I have the adium theme chosen. But my channels and chats pop up almost instantly. I've been able to reproduce this bug in the past, but can't anymore. Maybe my use case is slightly different?
I can still reproduce it in ubuntu with empathy 2.29.91.2
I'm wondering if first open of chat is much faster when you already started epiphany using webkit.
I've tested this now. I think it is faster.
Xavier: where is webkit init? Is that something that we could do when starting Empathy if you have an adium theme configured?
It opens instantaneously for me on 3.4, closing as per comment #5.
Note that empathy-chat loads the whole roster when you're chatting just with one contact. This is totally overkill IMO.
