One use case for transparent images in the timeline is title keys. These seem to be rendering with poor quality in current git master. See attached screenshot.

I can confirm this behaviour. I was layering an alpha-png with a video clip and the rendered video always contains a black frame around it. Exactly as Brandons example shows. When the png is the only source in the timeline, the image size is as it should; But when the video clip kicks in, the png image is suddenly resized so that there will be a black border around it. I could not find a workaround.

Actually this is fixed, from testing with the PNG provided above.
