Thanks for the report. This is actually already filed as bug #590744. It's not intentional; it doesn't/didn't happen on my SUSE distro, though I've reproduced it on Ubuntu. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 590744 ***
Are you sure? Mine was not about having problems selecting items, but rather that the spacing between items in the icon view was huge... but if you're sure, okay :)
Yes, the bug is both about rendering it at twice the width, and also with the interaction with the right side of that double-width rendering not working. The title of that bug should probably be edited to make it clear there are two apparent symptoms of the one bug.
