Description Marcus P S 2010-01-31 18:27:54 UTC
1. Go to http://banshee-project.org/download/ and download Banshee for OSX (MD5 0b061816b4c338178ef7126cbed31fa8) and install in the Applications folder

2. Open a Terminal and type

open /Applications/Banshee.app

Expected behaviour:

Application should start, as if the icon was cliqued on Finder, or started from Quicksilver or Spotlight

Actual behaviour:

Icon bounces on Dock a few times, then vanishes, and the following message appears on the Terminal

LSOpenFromURLSpec() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/Banshee.app.

Are you still having this problem w/ 1.5.7 for OS X?
Comment 2 Marcus P S 2010-08-11 00:07:22 UTC
It seems to work on OSX 10.6.4, will check on 10.5 later.
Comment 3 Marcus P S 2010-08-11 13:48:29 UTC
It still does not work on 10.5.8 (exact same failure message)
Comment 4 Matt Sturgeon 2011-02-06 03:57:07 UTC
Is this bug still occuring in latest builds (1.8.1, 1.9.3, Trunk)?
Comment 5 Gabriel Burt 2011-03-21 13:53:42 UTC
Marcus, do you still get this with 1.9.5?

Do you really need to run 'open ...', or can you just run '/Applications/Banshee.app' directly?
Comment 6 Marcus P S 2011-03-22 19:29:54 UTC
I still get something basically similar to this --- in essence, neither work.

I am on 10.6.6 now.

From the command line I get

$ /Applications/Banshee.app/Contents/MacOS/Banshee
Application bundle has moved. Adjusting bundle...
find: /Users/msilvaApplications/Banshee.app/Contents/Resources/etc: No such file or directory
/Applications/Banshee.app/Contents/MacOS/Banshee: line 99: /Users/msilvaApplications/Banshee.app/Contents/Resources/bin/mono: No such file or directory
/Applications/Banshee.app/Contents/MacOS/Banshee: line 99: exec: /Users/msilvaApplications/Banshee.app/Contents/Resources/bin/mono: cannot execute: No such file or directory

if I click on the icon, I get two windows being partially rendered (just grey boxes with window titles), and the beach ball of death.
Comment 7 Peeter P. 2011-03-28 14:19:38 UTC
I have exactly the same problem as in Comment 6. It started with Banshee version 1.9.5.

OS: Mac OS X 10.6.7
Banshee version: 1.9.6

Sometimes some parts of those two windows are rendered. When it is so, the main window has only some controls rendered. The other dialog box is an error notice with the text

"Encountered a Fatal Error

Exception has thrown by the target of an invocation.

> Error Details"

The error box is unresponsive as well and I cannot check error details.

Sometimes nothing in those windows is rendered. Then after forcing to quit Banshee Mac OS X says that I have forced mono to quit and asks if I want to report it to Apple.
