Description Sense Hofstede 2010-01-19 18:50:32 UTC
When the GConf key '/apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir' is set to True the user's home directory is also his desktop. However, the "Desktop" bookmark in the Places sidebar still exists and has the desktop icon, even though it does link to the home directory.

This bookmark should be deleted when 'desktop_is_home_dir' == True.

I consulted the Nautilus maillist to check whether this is indeed an issue. The thread can be found here: <http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2010-January/msg00014.html>. I'm setting the status to trivial based on this discussion.

This bug was originally reported by Kyroupox on Launchpad in Ubuntu at <https://launchpad.net/bugs/488822>.

Note: when bug #469614 gets fixed and the GConf key is deprecated, this bug should either be reopened or would require a different fix.

Is this still relevant with gnome3? Nautilus 2.92.x shows only a shortcut to the home dir for me, even if ~/Desktop exists (and I seem to be unable to delete ~/Desktop).

There is no more "Desktop" shortcut showing up in the sidebar anymore.

Yes, this is relevant, because we show Desktop if show-desktop-icons is TRUE.
desktop-is-home-dir is a bit buggy in 3.0 though; I just pushed a bunch of fixes to nautilus master to make it work fine.
