Description Jonathan Lumb 2010-01-15 23:04:15 UTC
This is a bug that was filed in Ubuntu and which I have forwarded upstream as I believe it is important.

The original report can be found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/421381

FTPES (explicit FTP-SSL) is not currently supported in Nautilus and would be a very useful feature. FTPES is supported by FTP clients such as lftp or graphical clients such as Filezilla but neither of these integrate with the Gnome interface particularly well.

FTPES is in widespread use - for example Leeds University in the UK gives students access to their "home" directories on the network via secure FTP (FTPES), hence adding this feature to Nautilus could potentially benefit a lot of people.

Thanks

Jonathan Lumb
