Description Javier Jardón (IRC: jjardon) 2010-01-14 01:29:00 UTC
Hal is deprecated, see http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/hal

"HAL is in maintenance mode - no new features are added. All future development
focuses on Software/DeviceKit-disks, Software/DeviceKit-power, NetworkManager,
PulseAudio, udev (gudev), ..."
Comment 1 Martyn Russell 2010-02-25 13:57:26 UTC
This has been partially fixed this week. We have moved to gio for the storage parts. The power code supports HAL and PowerKit, so really just need to remove support for the HAL part there AFAICS. We can do this for next week's release.
Comment 2 Jürg Billeter 2010-02-25 14:58:59 UTC
As we still don't have DeviceKit-power/upower in maemo, we will keep both power backends for now. However, DeviceKit-power is the preferred backend and HAL is only used if DeviceKit-power is unavailable (or disabled), so this bug can be closed.
