GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 605492
Line spacing should not vary in plain text e-mail compose window
Last modified: 2017-02-09 13:41:29 UTC
Forwarding from a Fedora bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=528091 I copied the text "Debugging Thunderbird" from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_Debug_Thunderbird into an email compose window in Evolution by highlighting the text with the left mouse button (dragging across the text) and then hitting the middle mouse button in the compose window. As the attached screenshot shows, the line spacing around this pasted text is wider than the other text I typed in as part of my reply (xxx). Text I type immediately before (yyy) or after (zzz) the pasted test is also infected with the abnormal line spacing. The compose window should be reasonably WYSIWYG. Since I am in Plain Text editing mode, I should be seeing constant line spacing. evolution-2.26.3-1.fc11.i586 gtkhtml2-2.11.1-5.fc11.i586 firefox-3.5.3-1.fc11.i586 Screenshot: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=364186
Confirmed that this is still a problem with the latest Fedora 12 packages: evolution-2.28.2-1.fc12.i686 gtkhtml2-2.11.1-6.fc12.i686 firefox-3.5.6-1.fc12.i686
GtkHtml is not under active development anymore. Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
