GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 605197
Windows-compatible filename warning dialog is unfriendly
Last modified: 2018-09-21 16:57:24 UTC
Trying to burn a data project with names > 64 characters gives a warning: Do you want to continue with full Windows compatibility disabled? Some files don't have a suitable name for a fully Windows-compatible CD. In fact, Windows has little problem with these names but that is beside the point. #1: The keyboard shortcuts are "C" to cancel (default) or "C" to continue. #2: Cancel is the default, even though you only have to hit it once to cancel whereas... #3: So far I've been asked 300+ times (and counting) if I want to continue. That's more than the number of files in the project and I have not changed my mind in the meantime. I don't even know if it's possible to get past this point in the process.
I'm having this problem as well, and it doesn't matter what you choose on the first dialog (asking you whether you want to disable windows compatibility). If you choose the Rename or Disable option, you still get asked hundreds of times to continue. I'm trying to burn thousands of files across DVDs.
I can confirm this with 2.28.3 (debian package version -1) on amd64.

As mentioned in bug 630626, the dialog also does not mention what the problem with the filename is, merely that there is a problem.
