Description JIM 2009-12-15 22:35:17 UTC
Selecting 'grab current window' in gnome-screenshot does nothing. No screenshot is taken and no reply window is returned.

Taking a full shot of the entire screen works normally.

Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala kernel 2.6.31-14-grneric

Definitely works for me, and first time I hear of this, so that's a bit surprising...

Does it really do nothing at all?

Subject: Re: [Bug 604657] gnome-screenshot does not grab current window

If you don't have either of the boxes ticked and select 'none' for effects it will take a snapshot of the upper left quadrant of the screen, regardless of the position of the current window you are trying to capture. If either or both of the boxes are ticked absolutely nothing happens. This occurs on (3) Mint and two Ubuntu installations all using kernel 2.6.31-14-generic and on (3) separate computers.
I thought it might be related to Compiz but not all of the computers have that enabled.

I just experienced this while trying to take a screen shot on Ubuntu 10.10. The problem was alleviated by adding a 1 second delay.

It seems like a race condition, is it possible the gnome-screnshot window is "closed" by the code, and then the window handle of the current window in focus is grabbed, but the "close" call returns before the window is actually closed?
