Description Gustavo Spadari 2009-12-11 23:32:14 UTC
The original bug report is in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/473576
I couldn't find it here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if it's a nautilus problem.

I've ATI Radeon HD 3200 on AMD Athlon 64 X2, HP dv4-1413la.
I've configured 2 screens on ATI using "Single (Independent Display)".
Main screen is the laptop display and the other is a LCD monitor.

The bug occurs only on LCD monitor, 2nd screen. I'm using Karmic Koala and I've upgrade from Jaunty using internet upgrade after it was official released (not alpha nor beta).

Steps:
1) Click on "Places"
2) Open something, example "Home Folder"
3) Click on some directory
4) Try to go back using Left Arrow or Up Arrow icons on top.

"What happend":
Those buttons are not clickable!. Even if I click on a menu and move the mouse to another, the new menu does not show up.

"Expected Result":
Those buttons must be clickeable.

More Info:
If I loose focus off the nautilus windows and go back, the behaviour turns into normal. I mean, I'm able to click the buttons just as it's supposed.

On Jaunty it was working OK.

Thanks!

On launchpad there are some attachs.

Same problem here.

comes for me together with this bugs:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593453
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=599843

(The problem exists since my last system update
xorg 1.6 => 1.7
kernel 2.6.28 => 2.6.32
gnome 2.26 => 2.28
nautilus 2.26 => 2.28)

I've noticed the same problem with FireFox.

so i don't think this is an nautilus bug

There is more on this on another launchpad bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/489140

A similar issue crops up with Eclipse, and this was apparently down to odd use of GTK+ that broke due to changes in 2.18:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/442078/comments/28

Could this bug have a similar cause?
Comment 5 Daniel Lea 2010-03-30 15:10:38 UTC
I should note the issue with Eclipse was *not* related to having multiple x screens - it just manifested itself with the same upgrade and relates to mutiple clicks.

I should also explicitly say that I can confirm this bug on my system.
Comment 6 Gustavo Spadari 2010-04-18 12:43:47 UTC
I've upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and the issue is fixed.
Comment 7 Marcus Carlson 2010-07-21 21:35:46 UTC
Marking as OBSOLETE as per Gustavos' comment.
