Description Mr. Wilson 2009-12-09 17:25:36 UTC
Issue history:
I did a search from the Open SuSE site, and used the 'one click install'. Everything reported fine.
When attempting to use Evolution, however, the first thing that I get is the Setup Assistant, which I have issues running. On the second screen, in order to get the "Forward" button to be something I can choose, I must first select and then un-select the 'Restore from backup" option.
Once I get to the next screen, the one to enter required information, nothing I do will allow the "Forward" button to be selectable.

could be related of bug 587743 or bug 590687 ?

@mr. Wilson: who is your evolution version?
Comment 2 Mr. Wilson 2009-12-09 18:03:50 UTC
I had picked the first one that came up, which shows as evolution-2.28.20091119-1.2.i586.rpm for the manual download.

I went back there to look that up, and saw the "Stable Release version, which shows as evolution-2.28.0-1.3.i586.rpm, and installed it, and everything works fine now.

Guess thissue was due to the latest version not being the stable one.
Thanks.

Wilson, could you please tell us the url from where you updated the evolution ?

Which server type do you use ? It could be possible that you use exchange and those rpms are not updated in repository, due to which you see problem in account assistance.

You could one more thing, start evolution from terminal and paste the warnings which you see while trying to configure an account, thanks.

I am also on OpenSUSE 11.2 but i don't see any such issue.

The software was downloaded from the OpenSuSE website, at this URL:

http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=evolution

The rest of the rpm version information can be found in my earlier posts.

With the first, I was never able to get past the third screen of the setup assistant, where you put initially required account information in prior to Evolution actually running for the first time.

None of the 5 email accounts I currently have on the server are Exchange servers. I have 4 POP accounts, and 1 IMAP account all working perfectly under the second "Stable" version that I found on the same URL as the first. Again, the rpm versions are listed in my earlier posts.

The problem went completely away as soon as I installed the "Stable" version.

I consider the issue fixed for my own personal use for now, but, if you folks can make the original issue be fixed, I would like to try the latest version.

Thanks.

If you don't see any problem with standard repository [1] then there is no problem at all from evolution side.

[1] http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/11.2/standard

There is some problem in snapshot repository as it's not building rpms daily which will be fixed soon.

This bug can be closed in my opinion.
