GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 603890
Gnome Shell interface ignores Font configuration
Last modified: 2010-05-16 09:35:15 UTC
Altering the font DPI and font sizes in gnome-appearance-properties seems to have no effect on GNOME Shell. The unusually large size makes certain aspects of it almost unusable, like the sidebar, where names look weird and unhelpful, being ellipsised after 7 characters.
Er, this is with gnome-shell 2.28.3 via Fedora 12.
Closely related to 599713, I'm going to mark it as a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 599713 ***
Owen, the duplicate bug has been fixed using gnome settings for hinting (and dpi? i'd say no since if set 9pt fonts in the css I get a different size than 9pt in gtk). The shell still ignores font size settings though, so I think either this or the other bug should be reopened. Also I think 16px by default for panel and menu fonts is huge but that's just aestethic taste, making it follow gnome settings would be great.
