GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 600203
Needs more explicit error than "no application found"
Last modified: 2010-09-09 01:04:31 UTC
Quoting http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=553176 : > When some export formats are selected, transmageddon reports a "plugins not found, choose > different codecs" in the GUI and "no application found" on the stdout. > > It would be much better to have a proper error message reporting exactly what was tried and what > failed... to understand if another package is missing or what. This is of course only a problem if no codec installer is installed. Would still be nice if transmageddon provided some more details about what exactly is missing, for example like totem that prints the complete missing plugin messages on stdout.
I think the no application found error comes from GStreamer/pbutils and no Transmageddon. Wouldn't it be better to get GStreamer itself to create a more detailed error message when no codec installed is found?
