Description RomD 2009-10-27 20:59:38 UTC
I'm using a triple-head setup with three separated x screens.
Nautilus and gnome-panel only work properly on the monitor where the first instance was launched:

1. Open Nautilus on a monitor
Result: working as expected

2. Open another Nautilus instance on a different monitor
Result: When clicking anywhere on the window, Nautilus partially freezes. The text-based location bar, clicking on folders and drop down menus still work, but clicking on symbols, the button-based location bar and scrolling with the mouse wheel doesn't work anymore.

3. Move mouse cursor away from the broken window
Result: Works normally until I click somewhere on the window, which causes the partially freeze again.

I've got the same problem with gnome-panel. When clicking there to open a window or show the desktop, it freezes until it loses focus, then works for the first click and is frozen again.

I don't have this problem with any other applications.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 RC. Everything worked fine with Ubuntu 8.04.

Same problem here.

comes for me together with this bugs:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593453
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=604410

(The problem exists since my last system update
xorg 1.6 => 1.7
kernel 2.6.28 => 2.6.32
gnome 2.26 => 2.28
nautilus 2.26 => 2.28)

I've noticed the same problem with FireFox.

so i don't think this is an nautilus bug

Seems to be fixed in Ubuntu 10.04 RC with Nautilus 2.30.
Thanks to whoever solved the problem.

Can anybody confirm this, or retest with 3.2 or 3.0?

Assuming it has been fixed by comment 3. Please reopen / add a comment if that is not the case.
Comment 6 bugzilla.gnome.org 2011-11-07 21:37:22 UTC
ack.

now i'm using 2.32.2.1 without problems, also some previous versions had the bug fixed.
