GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 599142
PDF containing highlighting and comments does not render correctly
Last modified: 2009-10-23 12:42:52 UTC
My wife's professor sent her a marked-up PDF document which contains highlighting and comments. Although this shows up correctly in Adobe Acrobat, it does not render properly in Evince. I can reproduce the problem on two different machines, one running GNOME version 2.24.1 and the other running 2.28.0. The document properties indicate that it was produced using PDF-XChange Viewer [Version 2.0 (Build 42.3)]. The highlighting obscures the text entirely -- it's an opaque yellow line which seems to be a layer on top of the text. I found that it's possible to workaround by selecting the highlight; this causes the text to display as any other highlighted text would. The comments (annotations?) simply don't show up at all. By viewing the document in Evince, I'd never realize there are any comments, though they do display clearly in Adobe Acrobat.
Created attachment 145921 [details] document which illustrates the problem
