Description windemiatrix 2009-10-11 20:58:26 UTC
This device isn't detected by cheese:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 174f:6a31 Syntek Web Cam - Asus A8J, F3S, F5R, VX2S, V1S
Camorama, Skype and other packages are works.

P.S. Sorry for my english.

I can confirm this, as I too have this device in my laptop (32-bit Arch-Linux) and it does not work in Cheese for me. gstreamer-properties lists the device in its v4l2 list and the "Test" button proves that the camera is working. I'm using the stk11xx (2.1.0) driver, if it matters.
Comment 2 Filippo Argiolas 2009-10-24 07:08:19 UTC
Known issue, already reported to stk driver developers but I'm not so sure it is actively maintained. It will be probably fixed in our next major release when we'll drop HAL support.
