We should add gtk-doc annotations to functions, parameters and struct fields. See http://live.gnome.org/GObjectIntrospection/Annotations

This has two advantages: first of all it makes clear to the user who owns the pointers, etc and second it makes gobject-introspection more useful because the introspection data also contains this ;)

core has many annotations now but in base they are still missing

I think they're mostly there now. Specific reports are more useful than general ones, so let's wait for those to come  in.
