Description Eric Appleman 2009-08-16 10:44:36 UTC
Even in the latest versions, I have yet to see any work done to implement the assrender gstreamer plugin which is already in my distro's repos.

Until this is implemented, ASS subtitles, will continue to be rendered in a rather ugly fashion.

Implementing the plugin will imply that Totem is able to properly parse standalone ASS files and ASS files that are embedded in MKV files. Furthermore, Totem must be able to make use of both system fonts and fonts embedded in MKV files.

This needs to be solved at the GStreamer level. (Filing more bugs about essentially the same thing is not going to make it happen any faster.)
