GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 590397
Allow to set spell checking options in a centralized place for all gnome apps
Last modified: 2013-04-19 14:23:09 UTC
Hello I think that would be interesting being able to configure spell checking preferences under a place from g-c-c allowing users to only need to configure spell checking one time. For example, currently, I really like how evolution handles it as I am able to have spell checking for english and spanish at the same time. Then, in my case, if this proposition is accepted, I wouldn't need to make that configuration in evolution, epiphany, gedit... I would simply configure it from control center for all apps. Thanks a lot
Well the problem is that GTK+ does not have spell checking support out of the box and that there are various ways how spell checking can be (and is) implemented across apps. Until this is fixed I don't really see the value of this.
I get your point :-/, but this is also a request for long-term, I didn't expect this to be solved soon, I simply want to express the idea of trying to unify spell checking between gnome apps :-) Regards
I completely agree with this bug report. At the same time, this requires a coordinated approach across the whole of GNOME - a bug against the control center isn't the best place to track the issue. We have a design page for GNOME-wide spell checking - let's use that to follow this instead: https://live.gnome.org/GnomeOS/Design/Whiteboards/SpellChecking
