GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 590325
gtkbuilder needs a public policy about extension name
Last modified: 2013-02-11 05:57:42 UTC
There's no standard extension name for gtkbuilder files, though the .ui one looks like the de facto one. Old libglade format files have a standard .glade extension and gtkbuilder can handle those fine though there's some implicit suggestion to change it to .ui. A public policy about the recommended extension would help to take some decisions on default extensions for Glade generated files. One problem though with the .ui extension is that it's being used by Qt, so maybe having a ".gui" extension would be better to avoid name clashes. This relates to glade bug 584131
I believe .ui is pretty much de-facto chosen now. Declaring a different 'standard' will not make a big difference.
