I find really too easy to make the mistake of clicking on the webcam/microphone icon on the contact list.
It should ask if you want to start a call with the buddy instead of starting it immediately.

Indeed. I think the current plan is to display a context menu when clicking on it instead of starting the call right way.
This menu will be used to choose between an audio call, audio+video, etc.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
