Description Scott Ritchie 2009-07-27 23:34:17 UTC
Binary package hint: banshee

I had a single item in the Filesystem Queue from months ago. I don't know how it got there, but I had managed to forget about it since whenever I'd open banshee everything else worked as normal. I had no idea what the filesystem queue was at this point either, or how it was any different from the play queue.

Today I got curious so I clicked it and found an old video file. I right clicked to remove it and was given a confirmation dialog: "Do you really wish to remove this file from the queue?"

Instinctively I clicked cancel, as since I had literally just said remove by right clicking I suspected this dialog would only come up if this was a dangerous operation (ie, deleting my file). But it's not.

So, three suggestions:
1) Consider using something more obvious than "filesystem queue" to describe the functionality. I know what a filesystem is, but I have no idea what this queue is about.
2) Get rid of the confirmation dialog when removing an item from the queue
3) Empty the queue on quitting banshee.

This is a dupe of bug 550219

> 3) Empty the queue on quitting banshee.

Right-click on the File System Queue and check "Clear on Quit"

> 2) Get rid of the confirmation dialog when removing an item from the queue

I will change the summary to reflect this.

Thank you Alexander, sorry I didn't search before.

Do you think "clear on quit" should be default for the Filesystem Queue (if not the main playlist queue)?

Definitely not. We would then have to deal with angry users asking why their queues are empty :)

Comment 4 Scott Ritchie 2011-04-27 11:45:18 UTC
The prompting in the _play queue_ is gone now, so I suppose this is fixed.
Comment 5 Scott Ritchie 2011-04-27 11:47:37 UTC
Actually nevermind, the filesystem queue still has this behavior, although at least the remove button is next to the delete button so it's clear they are different.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
