GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 587163
Banshee does not transcode video for Android G1
Last modified: 2009-06-28 02:02:29 UTC
The Android-based G1 does not support arbitrary video formats, so videos (notably .avi files) need to be transcoded to play. At present this is a tedious manual affair. Banshee is currently no help because dragging a video to the device appears to work, but it 1) copies the file verbatim, which generally isn't playable, and 2) puts it under Music/ rather than in the appropriate Video/ directory. Other information:
I filed this specifically pertaining to the G1 since that's the device I've observed this on and care about, but this seems to be a general issue.
(In reply to comment #0) > 1) copies the file verbatim, which generally isn't playable This is bug 532426 > 2) puts it under Music/ rather than in the appropriate Video/ directory. Looks very similar to bug 534832 I'm closing this as a duplicate of bug 532426, feel free to open a new bug for the second issue if bug 534832 is not the same. In the future, please file one bug report per issue, makes much easier for developers to track them. Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 532426 ***
Correct on both counts.
