GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 587071
Allow keyboard navigation of display items
Last modified: 2011-02-24 15:10:58 UTC
We should allow keyboard navigation (up and down) of the search results, but should also decide if keyboard navigation of the items displayed in dash makes sense and how it can be best enabled. We should see if showing details preview makes sense when the user is using keyboard navigation.
Keyboard nav seems to be now working?
It works for me for search results. But until I have started typing something, I see no way to navigate amongst items. And of course, once I've started typing something, the listed items change....
I wonder if alt-f1 should draw the left hand overlay only, and not the zoomed out workspaces ??
(In reply to comment #3) > I wonder if alt-f1 should draw the left hand overlay only, and not the zoomed > out workspaces ?? Probably not; we need an alternative overview entry key if you don't have Super. Now Alt-F2 on the other hand should be a search over apps using a dash-like display.
Another one which has been open for a long time but is still valid. If I hit Start / Alt-F1 I can't then navigate the left hand pane with arrow keys (and it's a long way with the mouse to the left hand side of the desktop from the right hand side of my right hand monitor :>). Is there a reason not to allow this?
I had patches for this before as part of bug 621671, but I let them bitrot because the overview is being redesigned. It will be fixed soonish.
awesome, thanks Dan.
dash keynav is implemented in bug 618887. Search result keynav is already there, but vaguely dubious, as discussed in bug 640779 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 618887 ***
