GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 585892
Nautilus expands the wrong folder after a type in search
Last modified: 2011-08-22 13:48:44 UTC
Hi. It's a minor bug and just to make nautilus better. :-) I'm attaching a video that shows what happens: Basically, after a nautilus window is opened, a search typed in, and then the folder's expansion icon is clicked, another folder is expanded instead of the clicked folder. The video attachment follows to clarify what's happening.
The video is a bit big for attaching. Here's a link: http://my.huddle.net/huddleworkspace/document.aspx?documentid=5034286&workspaceid=5034233&directoryid=5034238
Sorry, that last link is private to users. Though it has several adds, this one is public: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5kwh5i If this is a known issue or has been taken care of, please let me know so that I can delete the file from the above site if it will not be used. Thanks.
Also, I think the file is available for a limited time only.
Hi, is this still an issue in 3.0 or 2.32? Can you provide exact steps (click by click) as the video is not accessible anymore, please?
I'm running ubuntu 11.10 (I think that's 3.0) and it doesn't happen any more. Now though, directly after the search (while the letters of the search are still seen at the bottom of the window), resting the pointer on the expansion button and clicking on it doesn't work. The mouse has to be moved a little and then clicking on it works. Another thing that happens is that when not searching (the window is at rest), clicking on the expansion button of an unselected item works, but clicking on it a second time (without moving the mouse) merely selects the unselected item. The mouse must be moved a little for the click to work a second time. Analyzing more, it looks as if one or more clicks on an expansion button wont work unless some sort of motion is detected when the window is active (the search status bar is not shown) before clicking on the button. This is probably unrelated but since I just discovered it I thought I should mention it.

These look like GTK+ bug 566963. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 566963 ***
